Iceberg is the huge piece of ice, which floats on water. The icebergs are the tabular ice that breaks away from Antarctica. The largest ever seen was with over 31,000 square kilometers (bigger than Belgium). The tallest iceberg ever seen was 167 meters above the water. The iceberg with the largest area was seen in the South Pacific in 1956. The huge icebergs in this area have broken away from the Ross Ice Shelf. There, the Antarctic ice sheet extends out over the sea in an ice shelf as large as France. Its ice cliffs tower up to 50 meters above the sea.
