Why do we see rainbows in rainy season?

A rainbow arches over Florida.

Sunlight is made up of seven colors. When there are enough water particles in air and the sun is bright, we are able to see rainbow. When sunlight passes through water particles it is slightly bent. The water particles bend some colors more than-others, so they are separated out to make the rainbow. Light travels in a straight line, but changes direction when they pass through substances of different density, for example from air to water.     This is why you see rainbows most often after showers. Sometimes from an aircraft or a mountaintop you can see a rainbow below you as a complete circle. But rainbow is never seen in night because there is no sunlight at that time.
